La Torrecilla beach in Nerja
A 25-YEAR-OLD Polish man is being searched for in Nerja after he fell down from a rocky area on the La Torrecilla beach on Tuesday (April 7).
Local Police reported that the man was spending a few days on holiday in the town with his girlfriend and another couple. After midnight, the group was having a walk around the promenade area and the man tried to jump from a walkway to a rock and, according to police sources, the man could have lost his balance and fell from a 5-metre height. The evidence indicates that the fall was accidental.
Guardia Civil and Local Police, as well as fire fighters launched a search operation in the area, although it had to be interrupted due to the bad weather conditions on Wednesday (April 8).
“We have to wait until the waves subside for professional divers to continue searching for the man, who could be trapped in a cave or could have been pulled to the bottom of the sea,” said Head of the Provincial Fire Brigade, Francisco Cabrera.
