LEWIS Hamilton has secured a great start in tomorrow’s Formula one Grand Prix of China, by taking pole position from his team mate Nico Rosberg.
Just 0.042 seconds separated the two Mercedes Petronas drivers as they completed the final lap of qualification to assure a front row lock out ahead of Malaysian GP winner Sebastian Vettel, who was nearly a second off Hamilton’s pole time in third place for Ferrari.
The second Ferrari driven by Kimi Raikkonen will start sixth, ahead of Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, but behind the two Williams of Massa and Bottas in fourth and fifth.
Unfortunately for McLaren, encouraging Friday times proved deceptive as Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso found themselves out in Q1 and on row nine, just 0.004s apart.
