THE leader of Italian Teste Matte clan, Lucio Morrone, has been arrested on the Costa del Sol.
Known as Spalluzzella, the Italian man who authorities had been searching for for five years was found to be hiding out in Benalmadena.
Following a tip-off from Italian authorities that the fugitive could be in the area, a surveillance operation was set up to track down Morrone, who was arrested last Friday, April 10.
A Naples court recently gave a 20-year jail sentence for the Italian clan-leader, who rose to power within the organisation following the arrest of the previous leader Paolo Pesce in Fuengirola in 2008.
Morrone, who figures on a list of the 100 most dangerous fugitives created each year by the Italian Home Office, now awaits extradition to Italy.
