La NUCIA celebrated the fiesta of Sant Vicent at the Ermita in El Captivador over the weekend in recognition of the Patron Saint of the Communidad of Valencia, which always takes place the week following Easter. For the 13th year running La Nucia has hosted the Sant Vicent run – a nine-kilometre race from the Church Square to the Ermita chapel at Captivador. A total of 233 runners took part, with much of the route covering cross-country, off-road paths, through picturesque forests and along the Captivador walking trails. The male winner was Ahmed el Jadder representing the Club de Atletismo Basilea, with a time of 30:26 whilst the fastest female was Sonia Tirado, with a time of 40:37.
Following the challenging race, a further 69 participants took part in a non-competitive walk along the same route, which saw many families get invloved at a far more leisurely pace – with the youngest participant a four-year-old little girl.
