MIJAS Council has agreed to support a petition local families are putting to the regional government for a paediatrician to be at the local health centre on a daily basis.
More than 300 signatures have been added to the petition, which will be sent to the Junta de Andalucia regional government accompanied by a formal request from the town hall, health councillor Maria del Mar Rios has announced.
“This is a much-needed service. The specialist service for children has a waiting list already, which will grow even longer unless doctors are here on a daily basis. The Junta needs to listen to the people of Mijas and tend to their needs, especially when they are important needs,” Rios said.
