Audits reveal irregularities at port

IRREGULARITIES have been uncovered in payments made to the Puerto Foundation of Alicante.

The government has criticised the contractual relationship between the Port Authority of Alicante and its foundation after finding irregular payments such as duplicate of expenses, cronyism, dubious agency work and illegal agreements dating back to 2009.

The findings came to light after an audit was carried out following a request from the Compromis party who believed there were grounds for investigation into possible irregularities at the port.
