REALITY CHECK: Elliott with former co-star Chloe Sims.
THE Costa del Sol village of La Cala de Mijas is about to get a touch of Essex bling as TOWIE star Elliott Wright has taken on one of the coast’s best-known venues.
The reality TV star – who was reported to be quitting the show to open a restaurant in Marbella – has in fact taken on the Mijas Playa. He announced the news on his Twitter account saying: “It’s been a long process but I can finally say…. I have my first #CostaDelSolRestaurant The Famous Mijas Playa in La Cala.”
That is sure to shine the spotlight on what is traditionally a sleepy village.
Owner of the freehold of the Mijas Playa, Gerry Coleman, confirmed to the Euro Weekly News that the reality show star has taken on the restaurant and club, which has long been one of the top venues in the area.
He said: “He is totally revamping it. The builders are due to go in any day. It is fantastic news for La Cala, it will bring something different to the village – a touch of bling!”
Gerry added: “The Mijas Playa closed around 11 months ago, and since then I have had loads of offers, but I was waiting for the right person to really put everything into it and revamp it. Elliott is that man. He has big plans.”
