Book chronicles Spanish ‘set-jetting’ spots

‘SPANISH Set Jetting: 101 Locations’ is a new kind of travel guide to be presented in Valencia on Thursday April 30. It is what it says on the tin – a guide to where 101 of the most important English language films were made in Spain.

The book is in English, covering film locations all over Spain, written in Valencia by Bob Yareham, a resident since 1981. The launch is at 5pm in Spanish and at 7pm in English at the Hotel Astoria, Valencia, itself the scene of two English language films – one being part of the Pink Panther series.

Hosting the launch is Rafael Maluenda, director of the Valencia Film Festival.

More than 700 English language films have been entirely or partly made in Spain, the non-native English country where most English language films have been made.

Set-jetting (cinema tourism) is already popular in the USA, the UK and New Zealand (where Lord of the Rings was made). The book aims to promote and encourage this new kind of tourism, for which Spain has such great potential.

Published by Ediciones Camelot, copies of the book at €21 will be on sale at the launch, and are already available via the internet at: www.edicionescamelot.com/?p=575
