RECENT high temperatures in the Antequera area have boosted green asparagus production more than ever.
Fifteen tonnes of the vegetable are being picked per day, leading Horticultores El Torcal group leader Juan Antonio Romero to forecast a total collection of more than 800,000 kilos this year, a 25 per cent increase on last year’s figures.
Three hundred people have been taken on for three months to cover what is being classified as the greatest green asparagus campaign ever in Antequera.
