Free MOTs for Almeria City’s bikes

ALMERIA CITY recently made available free inspections for bicycles.

Unlike the compulsory ITV vehicle inspection, the service, which was carried out at different points throughout the city for five days, was free. And unlike ITV testing, it was up to owners to decide whether or not to go ahead with recommended repairs.

The tests come under city hall’s Almeria Pedalea (Almeria Pedals) programme and were carried out with specialist bicycle stores.

“Almeria Pedalea aims to introduce the city’s residents to two-wheeled transport,” explained councillor Maria Muñiz. “Its primary object is to encourage the use of bicycles and cycle lanes while making the most of Almeria’s marvellous climate.”
