€10,000 of seeds stolen in Malaga

POLICE have arrested three men in Malaga on suspicion of stealing 25,000 kilos of pipa (sunflower) seeds.

Reports from investigators say that it would appear two men from a rival warehouse located in the same loading area carried out the theft.

The robberies, which occurred between October 2014 and January 2015, sparked an investigation into the missing seeds, worth an estimated €10,000.

Local people told the investigators that they had seen the same type of pipa seeds that were reported stolen in another container along with a shovel. This set a trail to the home of a 44-year-old man who turned out to be the brother of one of the owners of the company involved.

He was then arrested and awaits prosecution along with the other seednappers.
