A MAN in a stolen vehicle who police had to chase through Torremolinos has been jailed for five years by a Malaga provincial court.
Although the man’s defence had appealed, the provincial court saw no reason to change the verdict after hearing reports of the incident in September 2012.
The man was ordered to halt by a policeman after the car he was driving was identified as a stolen vehicle, but instead sped off, hitting the police car and throwing the officer over the bonnet in the process.
A chase followed, during which the driver put his own and others’ lives at risk by jumping red lights and driving on the wrong side of the road.
The chase ended when he lost control of the car and crashed into a vehicle, which ended up landing on one side, causing approximately €3,000 worth of damage to the vehicle and the tree.
