BEACH BARS: No longer will the chiringuitos be closed as two beaches on Orihuela Costa permit year-round opening.
BEACH services at two of Orihuela Costa’s beaches will be open 365 days a year and not just during the summer season and Easter.
The Provincial Directorate of Coasts has authorised the permanent service to the contractor Chiringuitos del Sol to allow them to keep the beach bars open all year around in Cala Bosque (La Zenia) and Caleta (Campoamor), due to the “strong demand from users” said Councillor for the Coast, Martina Scheurer.
The councillor added that despite being allowed to remain permanently they must still meet the necessary permissions and characteristics with all chiringuitos being made of wood. This summer they will also have to stop installing tables and umbrellas in the sand and they must be placed on a wooden platform that will cover the full area occupied by the bar.
The aim is to facilitate access to services for people with disabilities, who use wheelchairs or have prams, and aid in improving the cleaning and maintenance of the beaches.
