Visit the world without leaving Fuengirola

THE Feria Internacional de los Pueblos (International cultures fair) is celebrating its 21st birthday this year and runs from April 29-May 3 to coincide with the May Day break.

This year a trade show is being held at the same time by the entrance to the fairground with 65 different stands in place under a 1,200-square-metre awning.

A wide selection of items will be on offer from various different sectors including nutrition, leisure, fashion, shoes, sport, etc.

Meanwhile inside the fairground a total of 33 countries and regions will be taking part in the fair, providing a perfect insight into the diversity of Fuengirola’s community.

New additions this year include the region of Valencia, which will have its own ‘caseta,’ while other countries and regions including Belgium, Sweden, Algeria, Bulgaria, Portugal, Madrid and Basque Country have returned after a few years of absence.

Representatives from Germany, Argentina, Cuba, Ireland, Morocco, India, Asturias, Colombia, Greece, Galicia, Andalucia, Hawaii, Egypt, UK, Brazil, Jamaica, Uruguay, Venezuela, Peru, Norway, Finland, Bolivia, France, Dominican Republic and Australia will make up the set of countries and regions visitors can experience all in one place.

“I think it will be hard to beat last year’s record of 1.25 million visits, but we’re certainly going to try to make each edition better than the previous one. Tourism forecasts for the week are for a full house in Fuengirola,” explained tourism councilor, Ignacio Souviron.
