AFTER years in decline, increasing car imports are bringing life back to the Noatum cargo terminal at Malaga Port.In just two years, the number of vehicles moved through the port has multiplied by 10, reducing the impact of drops in container traffic, which almost 120 dockers rely on to earn a living.Over the last year, 42,199 vehicles have been moved through Malaga Port, providing an income of €750,000 for the port authorities, in stark contrast to the 3,955 vehicles registered in 2012, the worst year for activity. So far this year the upward trend looks to be set to continue, with a total of 11,792 vehicles passing through the port between January and March.
