Javea water pipework improvements

Amjasa announces end of year profits of more than €1.2 million

Efficient management pays off
JAVEA’S water utility company Amjasa has closed the year with a profit of more than €1.2 million which will be used for improvements to the local water network.
During the first half of the year Amjasa replaced more than 10,177m of pipeline and will continue to replace another 5,352m over a series of seven projects in a bid to renew antique sections of pipe that are 20 – 30 years old. The completed works will limit the possibility of burst pips and pesky leaks in the system.
Good news
The good news was announced by Amjasa CEO Josep Lluis Henarejos, presenting the results at a general meeting on Thursday April 30. He confirmed that the company now has assets of €17.2 million, almost €2 million more than in 2013.
The desalination plant, which has been in operation since 2002, can produce 28,000 cubic meters per day of potable water and sells water to Teulada and also to Benitachell with the likelihood that the town of Benissa will purchase water this summer.
In the coming year Amjasa plans to address a sanitation plan that could improve sanitation for the several thousand villas in the town that still lack efficient sewerage and also a project that will treat water to make it suitable for irrigation.
