MINISTERIAL VISIT: Isabel Garcia Tejerina will tour the Infoagra exhibition.
ISABEL GARCIA TEJERINA, minister of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, will attend the Infoagra Exhibition next week. The first edition of the agricultural trade fair at the Aguadulce exhibition and conference centre will be held between May 20 and 22.It is to be opened by the acting head of the Junta’s department of Economy, Innovation, Science and Labour, Jose Sanchez Maldonado.Garcia Tejerina’s visit is scheduled for the following day and her presence is seen as government recognition for the fair’s importance. After visiting the different stands the minister is expected to make a speech at a moment that local growers regard as “sensitive” for several reasons. These include the continuing veto on exports to Russia and displeasure at the low prices charged in the European Union for rival Moroccan produce. It has also been pointed out that a ministerial visit so soon before the start of the election campaign is not without significance.
