Boulevard receives parks and gardens award

THE recently completed San Pedro Alcantara Boulevard has received an important Alhambra Prize from the Spanish Public Parks and Gardens Association.
The 55,000-square-metre boulevard includes gardens, ponds, bike paths, an amphitheatre for concerts, playgrounds and a 300 metre long, 150-tonne metallic bridge to connect the two sides of the town.
Six children’s game areas and playgrounds cover a total of 3,200 square metres and include adapted equipment for the disabled.
Councillor Eloy Ortega explained that the award was the most important received by the town for public spaces and reflected the council’s work to make San Pedro a more pleasant place to live in and visit.
