THE El Plantio urbanisation in Alicante has been ruled as illegal. The High Court of Valencia has outlawed the golf resort of El Plantio for lack of licence, annulling the municipal authorisation for its initial construction. The ruling, on which there is no appeal, confirms an earlier judgement and leaves open possible consequences. Different legal sources agree the aim now should be to study the possibility of legalising the complex, with the processing of a new licence adjusted to the Declaration of Community Interest (DIC) that the Consell granted in 1993. If this is not possible and it cannot be legalised, the complex would face being totally or partially demolished. The High Court rejected appeals and confirmed the previous ruling that it is an unlicensed resort. The ruling stated that the “administrations, local and autonomous, without regard to the grounds of the judgement in this room and the reports of the municipal technicians, wanted to legalise at any cost an urban action declared illegal.”
