CIVIL Protection volunteers will be manning the lifeguard posts on Manilva beaches this summer.Local Mayor Diego Urieta shared the news, stressing that the decision was down to the fact that the group is highly qualified for the work and always carries out its functions in a professional and responsible manner. The mayor explained that the volunteer group would be employed to cover the lifeguard service, as it did over the Easter period, and an official announcement on the matter would be released before the bathing season begins on June 15.This year, Manilva’s 2015 beaches plan was approved months in advance and put into practice in March to cater for Easter visitors.Measures included in the beaches plan, which starts early partly due to the fact the area is considered a nature reserve and therefore needs more care, were putting 100 new bins in place and starting a daily rubbish collection service.
