Fans gather to see jailed singer released

SINGER Isabel Pantoja left Alcala de Guadaria jail this morning (June 1) for her first temporary release since she was put behind bars last November.
Wearing red, with her head held high and a smile firmly pasted on, Pantoja waved to dozens of fans and journalist, who had gathered at the gates to her. Pantoja was jailed six months ago, for laundering money obtained fraudulently by her ex-partner and former Marbella mayor, Julian Muñoz.
Although authorization for a four day release was awarded by a judge last week, reportedly due to her good behaviour, signs of repentance and the fact that she had completed a quarter of her two year sentence, Pantoja decided to wait a few days before taking the break to allow her family to gather at her Cadiz home.
As a special measure, the judge, realizing she would be attract a crowd, has agreed that the singer will not have to present herself at a court each day while she is out of jail, however she is required to carry an authorization with her at all times.
Although many were pleased to see the singer jailed for her crimes, she has received thousands of letters from fans since she entered jail, which her family have been faithfully bringing to her each week.
