Fire scare forces evacuation of a restaurant and hotel in Nerja

A FIRE started in the kitchen of a restaurant at Nerja’s city centre on Sunday forced the evacuation of around 50 people.
Members of the Provincial Fire Brigade Team attended the area immediately and extinguished the fire, which originated in the deep fryer and only affected the kitchen area.
One of the restaurant’s staff members had to receive medical treatment due to an anxiety attack, although no injuries were reported.
Tourists staying in a hotel just above the restaurant were also evacuated but could return to their rooms shortly after the fire was put out.
“We will have to evaluate the damage and do our best to be able to reopen as soon as possible,” said owner of the restaurant, Damian Toboso.
