RESIDENTS of Pla de Sarrio in El Campello have been complaining of disruption and inconvenience caused by the arrival of several families who have moved illegally into a nearby, newly constructed building.
The status of the new arrivals is unknown other than it has been established that their occupation of the building is illegal. The police are aware of the situation but are unable to effect an eviction without a formal notice from the owners via the court.
Sources have confirmed that the building is partly bank-owned and an order for eviction is in the early stages of going through the court. However, until such time as an eviction mandate is issued, local residents are concerned that their new neighbours are noisy, devalue other homes in the area and do not pay a cent in taxes.
It is reported that the occupants of the building have managed to have a water supply connected and are attempting to secure an electricity supply.
