BETTER OFF: Buyers had more money in their pockets.
HOME buyers in 2015 have more money in their pockets, or better access to mortgages, and concrete plans to spend, says a survey of attendees at this year’s SIMA property exhibition in Madrid.Event organisers said their interviews with visitors to the fair found an increase of people with a budget higher than €300,000, from 12.8 per cent of the total number at last year’s event to 21.6 per cent this year. Those looking to spend less than €150,000 had dropped from 36.5 per cent in 2014 to 22.1 per cent. The number who said they were confident of getting a mortgage without difficulty had increased from 67 per cent a year ago, to 80.2 per cent. Likewise, the percentage of attendees who said obtaining credit was the biggest block on purchasing a property had halved from 18.3 per cent to 9.1 per cent.
