A WHOPPING 381,300 doctor’s appointments in the Balearic Islands last year had to be cancelled when patients didn’t turn up.More than seven million appointments were booked last year, 1.66 per cent more than the year before. However, 5.1 per cent of the total had to be suspended as patients did not attend and failed to cancel the appointments.According to the Balearic Islands Health Department, these gaps in the doctor’s appointment books have an economic impact and affect other users of the public health system, who are waiting for their appointment. They urged all patients to cancel their appointments in the case that they are not able to attend, so that they can be given to other residents.Patients can cancel or reschedule their appointments on the number 902 079 079, available from Monday to Friday between 8am and 8pm and Saturdays from 9am to 2pm, or at the official website www.ibsalut.es.
