Arch accident in Alcoy

PART of Alcoy’s famous ornamental arches fell to the ground.

MUNICIPAL workers have been called in to inspect one of the heavy iron ornamental arches installed in the Plaza España in the centre of Alcoy after part of it crashed to the ground on Sunday May 31.
Luckily no one was standing beneath the arch at the time so there were no injuries reported.
The arches are in place for a further 10 days while the dismantling of other fiesta decorations is carried out elsewhere, so an inspection crane was put in place to allow careful inspection of the structure and to ensure there would be no further mishaps.
