Palma's Port
SEVERAL branches of the military and other services carried out a drill on Monday to practice the armed protection of the port of Palma.The Spanish Army, the Balearic Islands Port Authorities (APB), the Maritime Company of Palma, Salvamento Maritimo (Spanish sea search and rescue service), together with central, regional and local governments participated in the event.The simulation used a ferry docked in the Palma Port. Upon disembarking hazardous goods, it was discovered that a ‘bomb’ was attached to the haul. Consequently, the protection protocol was activated.The goal of this simulation is to ensure a high level of coordination and collaboration between all the military and government institutions.
