REAL MADRID have announced Rafael Benitez as the club’s new manager after Carlo Ancelotti was dumped last week.
Benitez left Napoli, having overseen them lifting the Coppa Italia and finishing third in the Serie A, and has signed with the Spanish side for three years.
The former Liverpool manager is already looking to his old Merseyside team, having said of the side’s 20-year-old forward Raheem Sterling, “We admire Raheem, that’s no secret.”
Real Madrid have signed Benitez on three-year contract, and he has promised to win trophies – something he will need to hold to, as Ancelotti was given short shrift by the demanding club when the cabinet was left bare this year, despite lifting the Champions League trophy last season.
