DOLORES AVEIRO, 60, was reportedly stopped at Madrid Airport in mid-May when Spanish police seized €45,000 from the football star’s mother as she tried to leave the country without declaring the money.
After discovering the fortune in her hand luggage, the Guardia Civil forced her to hand over the money to the authorities as she could not prove its origin, according to El Mundo newspaper.
It reported that the mother-of-four, who lives between the island of Madeira and Madrid, had the cash confiscated in mid-May. However, she was not detained and allowed to fly to Portugal with the remaining €10,000 she was carrying.
The incident was described as an ‘administrative error’ rather than a crime.
