World, Olympic and Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins set a new world record for the ‘hour race’ on a bike.The human pedal machine cycled 54.526 km (34.2 miles) in 60 minutes. He was cheered on to the record at the velodrome that hosted the London Olympics cycling events by a full house that included his childhood hero, Spain’s Miguel Indurain.Four men have held the record since cycling’s governing world body the UCI unified the regulations last year – Jens Voigt, Matthias Brandle, Rohan Dennis, and Alex Dowsett.
