NOCHE EN BLANCO: Equestrian event was a crowd-pleaser.
HUERCAL-OVERA residents and visitors who did not sleep during the Noche en Blanco weren’t grumbling. The town recently organised its fourth Awake all Night event, when businesses opened until late and offered tempting discounts. It wasn’t all shopping or eating, however, as there were concerts, an equestrian display, flamenco and a Zumba marathon, plus bouncy castles and games for the children.“Business-owners are very satisfied with the results,” said Huerca-Overa’s Commerce Councillor Monica Navarro. “Turnover was boosted and they made themselves known to visitors who came for the Noche en Blanco.”The different events were deliberately spread throughout the town’s shopping streets, Navarro explained, as well as the area where pubs and bars are located. The 64 collaborating businesses organised a draw amongst clients spending more than €20, and the winners will be announced today, Thursday June 1. There is still time for the Selfie competition with prizes for the two receiving most “likes” on the town hall’s Facebook page.
