Mayor of the town Luisa Garcia Chamorro, Stefan Pfeiffer and Eric Schumann (Director of Robinson Hotel).

THE eyes of the motoring world will be on Motril as German car company Volkswagen has chosen to stay at the Robinson Hotel in Playa Granada during the World Dealer Congress.
The event will take place in different corners of Granada and the company will unveil two new car models to international distributors.
Acting Mayor of the Town, Luisa Garcia Chamorro, believed the event would attract 6,000 visitors from 82 different countries to Motril during the month.
She said: “This event will translate into priceless tourism advertising, making our destination internationally known and generating a total of 400 direct and indirect job positions in the whole of Granada Province.” Volkswagen will present two vehicles: the new editions of the Caddy and Transporter cars, which will be road-tested along the Sierra Nevada and the business park in Alhendin, and other routes across the Costa Tropical.
Head of Marketing at Volkswagen, Stefan Pfeiffer, said another 300 vehicles had been taken by the company to Granada and a 400-member team had been brought to the province to work on the project.
He also took the opportunity to thank the town council and Guardia Civil police force for their support and efforts to ensure that the event goes according to plan.
Granada Airport is expecting to see an average of 250 arrivals to the event daily, who will be taken by bus to the Robinson Hotel in Playa Granada, which has been booked in its entirety for the occasion.
“We expect this big-scale event to make Motril and the Costa Tropical known amongst the sector media,” said the mayor, who thanked Volkswagen for choosing the town for such a prestigious event.
