WITHIN hours of the sad news that veteran actor Sir Christopher Lee had died, the entertainment world suffered another tragic loss with the announcement that Oliver! star Ron Moody has passed away.
Sir Christopher Lee died in London after being hospitalised due to heart failure and breathing problems.
The 93-year-old British actor, best known for his roles in Dracula, The Wicker Man and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, died on Sunday at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital, but the news was kept quiet as his wife of more than 50 years wished to inform family members first.
Actor Ron Moody, who played Fagin in the hit film version of the musical Oliver!, died at the age of 91. His widow Therese told the BBC he would be “greatly missed.”
The star of stage and screen, born in London in 1924, hit the limelight in the 1968 adaptation of Dickens classic Oliver Twist. His films included Murder Most Foul, Legend of the Werewolf and The Spaceman.
He is survived by his wife and six children.
