NEW laws approved by the town council attempting to improve the alcohol-infused reputation of Magaluf have not scared away tourists who continue to crowd streets.“Fine me, do whatever you want, I’m going to get mortal on the street and I don’t care,” Hannah MacDonald, a 19-year-old on holiday from Scotland told the Dailyrecord.New laws came into effect on Tuesday, including stricter regulations on pub-crawling tours, which will be limited to a maximum of 20 people, the prohibition to drink alcohol in the streets of touristic areas between 10pm and 8am, and the prosecution of ‘balconing’ (jumping from a balcony to a pool or another balcony).Business owners have shown their scepticism at the new laws and their future applications, and highly doubt that they will be complied with. In addition, they complained about the increased presence of authorities, saying it would potentially dissuade tourists from visiting the area.“Everything’s the same for now,” said one bar owner.
