DENIA Council has been granted a subsidy of €5,000 by the provincial government to cover the cost of advertising expenses for the ‘Nit le la Llum’ held on December 19 last year to promote Christmas in the town. The event is organised to draw Christmas shoppers to Denia, an incentive that involves the participation of 95 shops that stay open until midnight with the streets of the city centre lit by thousands of candles. There are street musicians, carol singers and a number of other street entertainments. The total cost to the organisers last year was €15,027 so the grant is very welcome and encourages a similar event for 2015.
