THE fifth edition of the 10km race in La Nucia will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 7.30pm.
The track and field event will depart and finish at the parking lot of the Ciutat Esportiva Camilo Cano. As in the last edition, runners may choose between the ambitious 10km (two laps of the circuit) race and the less challenging 5km (one lap), in addition to children’s races.
Pepe Brotons of Grupo Brotons; José A Benavente of Club Athletics La Nucia and Bernabé Cano, mayor of La Nucia, have all participated in the organisation of this popular event in partnership with the Department of Sport in La Nucia and the Athletics Club.
Registration is now open and can be made via www.lanucia.es for both the 5km and the 10km race.
The circuit is designed as an urban challenge, taking in the streets of La Nucia with a few demanding ascents and descents to make things interesting, supported by a large turnout of spectators lining the route to encourage the athletes. Last year’s event attracted 400 runners from towns throughout the province and this year even more entrants are anticipated.
If registration is made for either of the two runs up to Friday June 12 the entry price is €13, going up to €15 on the day.
The price includes a t-shirt, running bag, isotonic supplies at the 5km mark and a selection of fruit and water.
Athletes will also enjoy free parking 100m from the gates, access to the locker room and free use of the swimming pool. The children’s races will be at 6pm, with registration free.
There is also a separate category for wheelchair users.
