Biker Babes Make a Smile

The Make a Smile family with a cheque for an amazing €13,000

THE aim was to combine Harley Davidsons, fun for all the family and support for one of the most worthwhile charities on the Costa Blanca, and the mix was perfect at the Costa Blanca España Harley Davidson Group’s Fun Day on Sunday June 14.
The sound was phenomenal as the bikes started to arrive and park, waiting for their Biker Babes to take their pillions but even before that there was plenty to keep everyone occupied.
There were stalls offering everything a biker, potential biker or curious onlooker could want. Clothing, delicious food and drink, jewellery and of course biking accessories, with rocking musical entertainment to help the day go with a swing.
The Bucking Bronco sponsored by The Euro Weekly News was popular with adults and children alike, although few stayed in the saddle for more than a few seconds.
Fun was the order of the day but there was a more serious aim behind the event. The Biker Babes, who won the thrill of riding pillion on a Harley, were sponsored by friends and family with all the money going to the Make a Smile charity that is doing a fantastic job at Relleu with its shelter and gardening project.
Tony Grande, co-coordinator of the self-sufficiency programme said: “We are so overwhelmed by the support from the Costa Blanca España Harley Davidson group. The money raised means so much for the children. The ethos behind Make a Smile is that it is a community issue and therefore the community needs to support the children and make a difference. For the children in the home to realise that there are people who care for them is priceless.”
The Biker Babes mounted up, departing with style to a thundering roar of engines. Upon their return there was a presentation of a cheque for €13,000 for the children at Relleu. Emotions were running high as the Harley Davidson Group’s Peter Emmet praised all those who took part in the event and Tony Grande with his wife Lucy shared with the crowd just how much this continued support means for the children.
It was a great day for a great cause. If you would like to support Make a Smile please contact Tony by emailing info@makeasmile.es or by calling 965 836 814.
