THE Coin branch of the Royal British Legion has been on an outing to Europe’s largest orchid house in Estepona.Forty-eight members and guests visited the state of the art building, which was opened on March 28 and boasts three glass domes to provide natural light. After free admission and a warm welcome from garden staff, the group followed a winding path through a beautiful display of orchids. An eye-catching feature of the centre is a 17-metre high waterfall.Gardeners have created separate areas representing the natural environments of South America and Asia with native orchids on display in each. There are more than 8,000 different species on show, and the visitors were treated to a stunning display of orchids in bloom. After a leisurely walk through the flower-lined streets surrounding the centre, the day-trippers went to Benahavis for lunch in the sun.Trip organiser Peter Brown was commended for arranging the program, and everyone who attended was delighted by their amazing day out.
