Al-Qaeda second-in-command killed in Yemen

THE Yemeni news group Al-Masdar has reported that Nasser al-Wuhayshi, the Al-Qaeda leader in the Arabian Peninsula, was killed in a US drone strike on Friday June 12.
In an online video released by Al-Qaeda, they said Al-Wuhayshi, the former private secretary to Osama Bin Laden, had died along with two other fighters in an attack in the Hadramawt Province.
Al-Wuhayshi became the head of AQAP (Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula) after the merger in 2009 of the Saudi and Yemini wings. The US government had offered a $10 million reward for his capture.
