A ROMANIAN mother and her son have been sentenced to 16 years in prison for forcing women into prostitution.
The Malaga Court has also sentenced them to pay €15,000 compensation to one of the victims, also Romanian.
The investigation began back in June of 2014 after one of the women alerted police, according to the sentence text.
Mother and son would recruit women back in their home country, offering them a flight ticket to Spain and convincing them with promises of a stable job position and a better life. Once in Spain these women worked in areas of San Pedro de Alcantara, Velez-Malaga and in Malaga city.
Both have been sentenced for human trafficking, threats and forced prostitution crimes.
