A MOTHER of three has been arrested for leaving her daughters, aged 11 and two six-year-olds, alone as she went to the other end of the country for a job interview.
Guardia Civil officers were sent to the home in Calahonda, Mijas Costa, after emergency services were alerted to the situation. The officers found that the three girls were alone and had not eaten.
The 38-year-old Colombian mother reportedly phoned another mother and asked her to pick the girls up from school in La Cala and take them home, and later admitted to the police that she had thought she would have time to make the journey home by 4am.
The woman, who has been charged and released, is believed to have left the girls alone at home more than once and had even recently travelled to Holland, leaving the older girl in charge of her six-year-old sisters.
When asked, the girls said that their mother had to work a lot but were unable to explain where.
