THE new mayor of Torrox, Oscar Medina (PP), announced that the area of Ferrara beach would receive an urgent addition of sand to prepare it for the high season.Mr Medina held a meeting with beach business owners together with new Coasts councillor, Sandra Extremera, to get to know firsthand all the issues presented by the sector and the state of coastal areas.“The support of this new government to the tourism industry is going to be a priority from the very beginning and we wish to tackle all problems it presents, including the poor condition of this 100-metre stretch of the coast, which includes the Ferrara beach, one of the most popular of our towns,” said Mr Medina, who added that work to create a new breakwater on this beach have already been awarded and will commence shortly.“We want to boost quality tourism in our town, taking care of facilities in need to put Torrox amongst the top-class destinations, making Torrox one of the new points of reference of the Costa del Sol-Axarquia,” Ms Extremera concluded.
