Cabbies get cross over credit card rule

MALAGA City taxi drivers have been annoyed by a new order to accept credit cards.
The drivers, who have been ordered to equip their vehicles with credit card machines by the end of the year, have complained that an agreement with the City Hall had stated that it would be voluntary, yet new regulations released in the city last week have included it as compulsory.
“Paying by card may be easy, but they can’t force us to accept them and even less so when we will have to cover maintenance costs and bank commissions,” said Jose Royon, president of Aumat Malaga taxi drivers’ association.
