A GROUP of Irish travel agents have been on a trip to the province to discover the area’s attractions.
Organised by the Costa del Sol and Andalucian tourism boards and the Spanish Tourism Office in Ireland, the familiarisation trip aimed to encourage visits from an expanding market, which has registered significant growth over the last few months, provincial council and tourist board leader Elias Bendodo explained.
“We wanted to show what the destination has to offer, culture, gastronomy, lifestyle, family leisure, and shopping-wise,” Bendodo said.
The Costa del Sol has received 28,466 Irish visitors from January to April this year, a 9.1 per cent increase compared to the first four months of 2014, he explained.
A busy schedule was drawn up for the group, including visits to the Thyssen, Picasso and Pompidou Museums.
