THE Barenboim-Said Foundation is organising a course for children between September 1 and 4. The course, an introduction to music, will be held at the Almeria City Conservatorio. The Foundation is financed by the Junta de Andalucia and is a reference for intercultural conciliation, promoting peace and dialogue through music. Centuries of peaceful coexistence between different cultures in Andalucia is a central feature of the Foundation as well as the Sevilla-based Western-Eastern Divan Orchestra. Founded by the Jewish-Argentinean conductor Daniel Barenboim and the late Palestinian academic Edward Said, the orchestra is made up of young musicians from Middle Eastern countries including Israel, and a large number of Spanish musicians, most of them from Andalucia.
