A CLEANER suspected of stealing €6,500 worth of jewellery and valuables from a Malaga City home has been arrested.Police investigations began last September when the owner of the home, in the Miraflores del Palo district of the city, reported that the items and €160 in cash had disappeared from his wardrobe. After discovering no signs of a break-in or incidents registered with the alarm system, investigators concentrated on a cleaner, an electrician and a painter, the only people who had had access to the keys apart from the owner. The 45-year-old woman who had been employed to clean the property was found to have later sold items matching descriptions of those stolen at a secondhand shop before leaving to work in Scotland. Now months later the woman has been tracked down after returning to Malaga, and arrested on Avenida Ortega y Gasset by National Police officers.
