BEACHES in Velez-Malaga are about to become much safer and get their quality officially certified.
A series of drills were carried out in the beaches of Caleta, Benajarafe and Torre del Mar. These operations are part of the different steps included in an audit necessary to achieve the Q for Quality certification.
The six drills simulated emergency events regarding protocols to be followed in cases such as a missing child, a toxic waste leak and others such as lifeguarding and rescue techniques, both in water and land.
“These drills have allowed the different authorities and teams involved to be prepared in a more realistic way to provide a fast and efficient service in case of an emergency event on our coasts,” said deputy mayor of Torre del Mar and Beach councillor, Jesus Atencia.
