THE defence for the owner of the Parque Animal shelter in Torremolinos has asked for the case against her to be dropped. She is accused of the mass culling of 2,183 animals in two years, having allegedly given them reduced doses of euthanasing drugs which would make their deaths slow and agonising. The owner, however, claims there is no proof that the animals suffered. Her lawyer claims that her fundamental rights were violated during the investigation carried out by the Guardia Civil Nature Protection Service, Seprona in 2010. They claim that the euthanising was carried out by vets who have now been threatened with disciplinary measures and boycotts if they admit to having done so. They also complain of the Guardia Civil entering areas without permission and using the press to build their case against the Parque Animal owner.
