TWO people have been arrested in Alcantarilla and Yecla in connection with two different crimes of domestic violence.Alcantarilla National Police force was alerted to a suspected case of violence inflicted by a carer on an elderly man, according to their statement. Upon attending the home, the 51-year-old Spanish woman refused to let authorities in, although later consented after being shown a search order.Once inside they found a 78-year-old man who claimed he had been mistreated for years, both verbally and physically. The woman, who also managed the man’s €600 pension, was taken into custody and the victim taken to the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca. The second case took place in Yecla, when police were alerted by a son who claimed his brother had stopped him from seeing their father for the past three months.Upon their arrival, authorities reported a strong odour coming from the upper floor, where they found another elderly man laying in filth on a bed. He was taken to the Castillo de Yecla Hospital and his 49-year-old son and owner of the property was taken into custody.
