TOURISTS’ safety is a priority for the Malaga Provincial Council as it has dedicated more than 1,800 police officers to the task of protecting all visitors who spend their holidays in the area.
This action is part of the Safe Tourism Plan launched by the Internal Affairs Ministry, as informed by the Central Government Delegate in Andalucia, Antonio Sanz who stressed that Malaga had 20.8 per cent of the total number of officers who would work in Andalucia during the summer season.
In a press release, Mr Sanz explained that 1,075 of the officers belonged to the Guardia Civil police force and 728 to the National Police.
This figure represents an increase by four per cent in officers working on visitors’ security, if compared with the data of last year, in a province that hosts 40 per cent of the total number of tourists who visit Andalucia.
The plan is to be activated on July 1 and will run until August 31.
